Lodging for drivers

IMPHAL, May 31 : As a  Covid precautionary measure, the Government is lodging about 1000 drivers and helpers of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) tanker trucks carrying POL (Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricant) at ISBT, Khuman Lampak. The drivers and helpers of  LPG tanker trucks, on the other hand, are likely to be accommodated at the bottling plant of IOCL at Sekmai.
The measure was taken up as about 30 drivers and helpers testing positive for COVID-19 is discouraging the transporters from performing their duties.
Meanwhile, a forum christened as Manipur Petroleum Products Business Forum was floated yesterday to extend help to the drivers and helpers during this second wave of COVID-19.
POL and LPG transporters, RO dealers, LPG distributors, HPCL, BPCL, ESSAR and BLTORAM LPG New Association are the constituent members of the forum.
According to one of the forum members, drivers and helpers of HPCL, BPCL and others too can stay at ISBT on request. It is said that All Manipur IOCL Retail  Outlet Dealers Association has donated Rs 50,000 to Manipur Petroleum Products Business  Forum.
