Daily death count back to double digit surge with 10 730 new cases reported in last 24 hours

IMPHAL, Jun 10 : A sort of a mixed day for Manipur on the daily Covid and related deaths count.
In the last 24 hours, Manipur saw 730 new Covid cases, which is a slight decrease from the 775 reported on June 9, but the death count returned to the double figure spike with 10 deaths reported during the same time span.
The State had reported 7 deaths on June 9.
The 10 deaths reported today however has not included one fatality from Ukhrul district, who reportedly passed away while he was being shifted to Imphal as his condition deteriorated.
The 730 new cases were detected from amongst 9008 samples tested in the last 24 hours, slightly bringing down the positivity rate to 8.1 percent as on June 10. It was 8.66 percent on June 9.
The 10 deaths were reported from Imphal West (6), Imphal East (1), Thoubal (2) and Churachandpur (1). They passed away at RIMS (2), JNIMS (4), Babina (1), Shija Hospital (1), District Hospital Thoubal (1) and Churachandpur District Hospital (1). The cumulative number of deaths has now risen to 925.
According to a statement from the Additional Director  of Health and spokesperson, Dr Sasheekumar Khoirom, altogether 730 persons tested positive for the virus  in the last 24 hours. The positive cases include 361 females.
No positive case was reported from amongst the Central security personnel.
The 730 positive cases were detected at RIMS (39),  JNIMS (8), district hospitals (465) and other testing centres (218).
The positive cases were drawn from Imphal East (160), Imphal West (225), Thoubal (101), Bishnupur (48), Kakching (55), Ukhrul (5), Churachandpur (87), Chandel (3), Senapati (13), Tamenglong (10), Tengnoupal (1), Kamjong (1), Pherzawl (1), Jiribam (13) and Noney (7).
On the other hand, 668 persons were discharged out of which 505 were from home isolation, 11 from RIMS, 9 from JNIMS, and 143 from other Covid Care Centres.
The cumulative number of recovered cases now stands at 47,797 (general population-44,036 and Central security personnel-3761). The recovery rate stands at 82.29 percent.
With 730 more new cases the cumulative number of positive cases has risen to 58,081 (general population-54,314 and Central security personnel-3767).
The number of active cases stands at 9359 (general population-9358 and Central security personnel-1).
In the last 24 hours, a total of 1345 D Type Oxygen cylinders and 521-B Type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.
The total number of people who have received their vaccinations as on June 10 stands at 4,52,635.
