IMPHAL, Jun 5 : Concerned over the prevailing situation in the State, the Committee of Civil Societies of Kangleipak (CCSK) has urged all to take collective responsibility to break the chain of the Covid transmission in the State.
A press release issued by CCSK said that joint efforts should be put to save the people, irrespective of political ideology and status in society.
Covid infections and deaths in parts of the country are declining, however, the situation in Manipur is still grim, said CCSK and added that apprehension has been compounded by the detection of a few black fungus (mucormycosis) cases.
The committee further pointed out that lack of trust between the Government and the people is evident at this time of crisis as people often question the measures taken up to contain the virus.
Stating that certain private hospitals is taking the Covid period as an opportune time to earn money is rather unfortunate, the CCSK appealed to all concerned to give priority to saving lives. The committee also urged the Government to do the needful to ensure there is no inadequacy such as shortage of doctors, equipment and infrastructure at hospitals.
It also appealed to the people of Manipur to adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for COVID-19 laid down by the Government and make local adjustments in the SOPs if necessary to defeat the pandemic.
