District Magistrate Thoubal bans

The District Magistrate of Thoubal district has ordered to immediately stop 'undesirable practices' including use of logos on relief kits, banners, loudspeaker while carrying out relief works amid COVID-19 pandemic.
The District Magistrate (DM) in an order issued today said that undesirable practice of using specially created relief kits with logos, use of loudspeakers mentioning names of donors, house visits done by organizations and individual(s), putting up banners of individual donor(s) in vehicle in the name of charity during the ongoing pandemic should be stopped immediately.
The DM appreciated NGOs/CSOs/Clubs/Organizations and individual(s) for distribution of food items and medical items or Covid Relief Kits in various localities of Thoubal District during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The DM however observed that such acts of charity in the form of kind or cash has often accompanied the use of loudspeakers, public gatherings, house to house visits and more importantly the use of specially created relief kits/packages with names of donors etc for media coverage and social media consumption.
Such use of media/social media outlets for gaining publicity in the name of charity through use of specially created kits, public gatherings etc for photography or video coverage is highly undesirable as it undermines the very purpose and sanctity associated with charity, the DM said while adding that it has become imperative to immediately curb and stop such undesirable and emerging trends in the interest of general public.
Any person(s) found violating the order shall be penalised under relevant provisions of law, the DM continued.
