 Chief Minister N Biren Singh has categorically stated that Shumang Kumhei plays an important role in shaping public opinion and acts as a tool for creating mass awareness on any issue at the grassroots level.
Underlining this point at the premier show of Shumang Kumhei “Keidoubagi Kidoino'', a COVID-19 awareness media advocacy campaign held at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound.
The play is produced by Directorate of Information & Public Relations (DIPR), Manipur under the initiative of Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
The play was streamed-live at DIPR Facebook page and DIPR Youtube channel. It was also telecast by ISTV, Impact TV and TOM TV.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister expressed hope that the play (Keidoubagi Kidoino) would sensitize the masses about the COVID-19 disease and encourage people to get vaccinated.
He also said that the Government is putting in place several stringent measures to arrest the spread of the virus.
Stating that free meals for inmates at Covid Care Centres are now arranged by the Government, the CM continued that door-to-door COVID-19 testing and mass vaccination drives have also been started in various parts of the State.
He then appealed to the people to support the Government in the fight against COVID-19.
N Biren Singh lauded DIPR, Manipur and those who are associated with the play for producing the play in a short duration.
On the occasion, IPR Minister Th Biswajit Singh said that the pandemic has adversely affected the society socially and economically.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Government is trying its best to protect and save precious lives, he added.
The Minister highlighted that the Government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has started the world’s largest free Covid vaccination drive.
Stating that COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective against the dreaded disease, Th Biswajit said that one should not be reluctant to take the jab as vaccines are developed through a rigorous process and clinical trials and have been approved by competent authorities.
The Minister also said  that the Government cannot fight the pandemic without the support and cooperation of the people.
Education Minister S Rajen Singh, Agriculture Minister O Lukhoi Singh, MP Rajya Sabha Leishemba Sanajaoba, Chairman LDA L Susindro Meitei, Commissioner (IPR) M Joy Singh, Director (IPR) H Balkrisna, former Minister M Nara, Padmashri Naba Wareppa were present at the premier show.
