IMPHAL, Jul 18 : The Duty Magistrate Imphal West today remanded a non local who tried to board an IndiGo flight using fake Covid test report, to five days police custody.
Md Anwar Ali (30) of Shamsher Nagar, Jharkhand was arrested by a team of Singjamei police yesterday and produced before the Duty Magistrate Imphal West today.
While producing the accused before the Court, the IO of the case submitted that Anwar Ali was arrested after Airport Manager, Interglobe Aviation Limited (Indigo) Imphal reported about possible forgery of Covid test report while performing mandatory verification during flight process yesterday at around 9 am.
On preliminary interrogation, Md Anwar Ali disclosed that he was a loader operator working for Krishna construction company, Mantripukhri Manipur branch and came to Manipur in December last year. He has been engaged in the widening works of two lanes of Churachandpur to Tuivai Section, the IO submitted.
He further disclosed that he came from Churachandpur to travel to Kolkata via Indigo flight at Imphal International Airport and tried to board the flight by using forged COVID-19 test report.
As such he is highly required in police custody for thorough interrogation to extract more clues, submitted the IO and prayed for a 5-day police custody remand.
The Court on perusal of the case remanded Md Anwar Ali to five days police custody till July 22.
