On first day of extended curfew Manipur logs 1003 new cases, 12 deaths26,034 cases totalled so far in July

IMPHAL, Jul 28 : On the first day of the extended curfew Manipur logged 1003 new cases and 12 deaths due to the virus to take the total caseload to 95,824 and the cumulative number of deaths to 1510. The 1003 new cases were detected out of 7275 samples tested to take the daily positivity rate to 13.8 percent.
In the backdrop of the daily spike in the number of positive cases as well as deaths the State Government had extended the total curfew imposed across the State by another week, that is till August 3.
The total curfew was first imposed on July 18 and despite the restrictions imposed on the movements of people the virus continued to run riots infecting at will prompting the State Government to extend the restrictions by another week.
In July alone, that is till July 28, Manipur logged 26,034 new cases with an average positivity rate of 14.81 percent.
The 1003 new cases include 2 Central security personnel and out of the 1001 civilians 519 are women.
The positive cases were detected during testing at RIMS (31), JNIMS (89), District Hospitals (660) and other testing centres (223).
On the other hand, the State Level COVID-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 12 deaths due to the virus in the last 24 hours, said the COVID-19 Common Control Room in a statement.
The deceased are from Imphal West (6), Imphal East (2), Thoubal (2), Kakching (1) and Kangpokpi (1).
With the addition of 12 more, the number of deaths due to the virus has now crossed the 1500 mark to stand at 1510.
Out of the 12 who passed away 9 had co-morbidities, said the COVID-19 Common Control Room and added that only three of them had received their first dose of the vaccine.
The 1001 civilians who tested positive in the last 24 hours are from Imphal East (221), Imphal West (264), Thoubal (48), Bishnupur (176), Kakching (45), Ukhrul (11), Churachandpur (90), Chandel (25), Senapati (8), Tamenglong (31), Tengnoupal (1), Pherzawl (1), Noney (36), Kangpokpi (36), Kamjong (5) and Jiribam (3).
All necessary precautionary measures including containment and contact tracing are in place.
On the other hand 871 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours from home isolation (375), RIMS (21), JNIMS (8), CCCs (248) and CHICs (219).
The cumulative number of recovered cases now stands at 83,392 including 3917 Central security personnel and the recovery rate is 87.02 percent.
The number of active cases is 10,922 including 52 Central security personnel.
On July 27 a total of 18,378 people received their vaccination shots taking the total number of vaccinated people to 12,52,408. The total is inclusive of 1,85,728 who have received their second dose.
A total of 2251 D Type Oxygen cylinders and 352 B Type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health centres across the State in the last 24 hours, added the statement.
