IMPHAL, Jul 28:  Ya-all, a non-profit organization working for the youths and marginalized sections in Manipur has urged the State Government and Health Department to take up special measures to ensure that the marginalized communities in the State get their due share of Covid vaccine.
Speaking on the sidelines of a special mobile vaccination drive at Langol, Ya-all chief functionary Sadam Hanjabam conveyed that there are many among the marginalized sections of the society who could not get access to the Covid vaccination drive in the State.
He said that people like drug addicts, transgenders and disabled have not been able to access the Covid vaccination drive owing to inconveniences like lack of documents and fear of stigma.
Saying that marginalized groups should be given fair and equitable access to Covid vaccine, Sadam drew the attention of the State Government and authorities concerned to arrange a special vaccination drive for the marginalized sections.
He added that the ongoing Covid vaccination drive would not achieve its intended target if the marginalized population are left behind.
Conveying that today's vaccination drive was organized by Ya-all in consultation with Imphal West district administration, the NGO’s chief functionary asserted that similar drives will also be held in other parts of the State too.
He further maintained that around 100 inmates of three de-addiction and rehabilitation centres - The Overcomers, Lamphelpat; Ray of Hope, Langol Laimanai and Bedrock of Recovery, Langol were vaccinated today.
