IMPHAL, Jul 3 : The Ethno Heritage Council (HERICOUN) has strongly condemned the burning copies of a daily newspaper at the gate of RK Nimai on Friday by certain people for writing an academic criticism on the removal of Kabak of the two Kanglashas at Kangla.
In a statement, HERICOUN said that they came across columnist and a retired IAS officer RK Nimai and a senior journalist giving academic criticism on the removal of Kabak of the two Kanglashas at Kangla on June 18 last.
Instead of giving constructive response to the criticism, certain people opted to burn the copies of the daily which is barbaric by nature, charged HERICOUN.
HERICOUN also said that it endorses the resolution taken by All Manipur Working Journalists Union (AMWJU) and Editors Guild Manipur (EGM) on the matter yesterday.
Though not an expert, HERICOUN said it has spoken out as trolling and intimidating people for sharing their opinions is never right, it added.
According to HERICOUN, some notable points highlighted by RK Nimai in his article are that it is only the Kangla Board that can take a decision on matters related to Kangla which is a secular site and that debating on the issue of Kangla  before deciding whether to develop the old palace to a modern park or tangible heritage site would not give any  solution but only create many more issues.
The Council claimed that the charges levelled against RK Nimai by Inner Lok Sabha MP Sanajaoba and vice chairman of Sanamahi Temple Board is Ad-hominem in nature.
Certain people targeting RK Nimai as anti Meitei is also an Ad-hominem argument, said HERICOUN.
