1 death, 382 cases recorded in last 24 hrs Covid : Aug ends with lowest TPR of 8.8 pc

IMPHAL, Aug 31: Manipur registered one death and 382 new Covid positive cases in the past 24 hours, taking the active caseload to 3,397.
As per COVID-19 Common Control Room, 374 persons  from among the general population and 8 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) tested positive for the contagion out of the total 4360 samples tested in the past 24 hours.
With it, the daily positivity rate has also dipped to 8.8 percent against 8.9 registered on August 30, ending the month with a lowest figure of 1 death and 8.8 test positivity rate.
The last time the State recorded a single death was on April 22 and with today's case of a death of a woman (unvaccinated), the total number of deaths has mounted to 1782.
The cases from the general population are from Imphal East (66), Imphal West (149), Thoubal (17), Bishnupur (28), Kakching (31), Ukhrul (11), Churachandpur (27), Chandel (5), Senapati (1), Tamenglong (15), Jiribam (1), Noney (2), Pherzawl (5) and Kangpokpi (16), it said.
Further, 324 persons were discharged in the same period, the release said while adding that they were discharged from Home Isolation (152), RIMS (6), JNIMS (6), CCCs (105) and CHICs (55).
With the addition of the fresh cases, the cumulative number of positive cases now stands at 1,13,933 of which 1,09,816 belong to general population and the rest to security personnel. The cumulative number of recovered cases, on the other hand, is 1,08,754 of which 1,04,664 are from general population and 4,090 belonging to security personnel, it said.
The number of active cases is 3,397 (general population-3375 and central security personnel-22) and the recovery rate is 95.45 percent, it added.
The release further mentioned that 1355 D-type and 307 B-type oxygen cylinders were made available to different health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.
In all, 4582 persons were also vaccinated on August 30 taking the cumulative doses administered till the day to 1,524,408 (1st dose: 1,186,702 and 2nd dose : 3,37,706), it said.
The number of vacant Covid beds as enumerated by the COVID-19 Common Control Room is RIMS (General beds-145, ICU-16); JNIMS (General beds-59, ICU-1);  ILAND Hospital (free of cost) (General beds-19); MSF, Little Flower School (free of cost) (General beds-7, ICU-8); CMC, Koirengei (General beds-27, ICU-4); Iboyaima Hospital, Singjamei (General beds-24, ICU-3);   Jivan Hospital, Kakching (General beds-16, ICU-6); Shija Hospital (General beds-45, ICU- 28), Raj Medicity (General beds-65, ICU-17).
It also informed that the State Government has started free RT-PCR and Rapid Antigen Testing in Imphal West and Imphal East districts from August 27 and will continue till September 2 at designated sites decided by the Health Department and on call basis (10 am to 5 pm).
