National Lok Adalat held

As per the calendar of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), the Manipur State Legal Services Authority in association with High Court Legal Services Committee and District Legal Services Authorities organized the third National Lok Adalat for the year, 2021 on  September 11, 2021 at various places across the State, both in virtual and physical modes.
A press release issued by MASLSA stated that the National Lok Adalat for Imphal East and West district was jointly held at ADR Building, Lamphel Court Complex. National Lok Adalat was also held at Bishnupur, Thoubal, Ukhrul, Senapati, Churachandpur, Tamenglong, Jiribam, Tengnoupal and Chandel districts and in the High Court of Manipur.
In today’s National Lok Adalat for Imphal East and Imphal West district organized by MASLSA, 4 benches were constituted. The Lok Adalat was conducted in online mode through video conferencing except for some Court cases where presences of the parties are required.
The first bench consisted of Th Saimon Singh, Judicial Member, State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission as Chairman and Ch Nanda, Advocate as Member. The second Bench consisted of RK Memcha Devi, District and Sessions Judge, Imphal East as Chairperson and Ch Momon Singh, Advocate as Member. The third bench consisted of A Noutuneshwari Devi, Retd District & Sessions Judge as Chairperson and B Supriya Devi, Advocate as Member. The fourth Bench consisted of Y Somorjit Singh, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West as Chairman and Ch Bimolchandra, Advocate as Member.
In the Lok Adalat, a total of 2876 cases (both pending & pre-litigation cases) were referred from the various Courts, legal aid clinics, Consumer Forums, Tribunals, Banks etc. However, only 392 cases were taken up today and out of which 316 cases were settled with a total settlement amount of Rs 3,28,40,731 (Three crore twenty eight lakh forty thousand seven hundred and thirty-one), resulting in a 80% settlement/ success rate.
In addition to the National Lok Adalats which will be held on December 11, 2021, MASLSA will also be holding regular State Lok Adalats from time to time.  
THOUBAL
DLSA Thoubal also organised National Lok Adalat on Saturday virtually through the “Jitsi Meet” platform.
In the lok adalat, 3 benches were been constituted with Binny Ngangom, District & Sessions Judge, Thoubal; A Shanta Devi, Civil Judge Senior Division/CJM, Thoubal; Sharda Yengkhom, Civil Judge Junior Division/JMFC, Thoubal as Chairpersons and Kh Arunkumar Singh, Advocate; Kh Jeton Meitei, Advocate; L Rojit Singh, Advocate as members of the bench.
A total of 379 pre litigation cases and 50 Court cases were referred to the Lok Adalat, out of which 31 pre litigation cases and 15 pending cases were taken up and 28 pre litigation cases and 3 pending cases were settled.
A sum of Rs 17,19,620 was settled and a sum of Rs 4,72,620 was recovered at the event itself.
SENAPATI
The National Lok Adalat organised at District & Sessions Court, Senapati on Saturday reportedly settled several Court pending cases and pre-litigation bank cases.
Speaking to media persons, Samom Ibjen, Chairman, District & Sessions Judge, Senapati stated that the National Lok Adalat was organised by DLSA Senapati under the supervision of National Legal Services Authority.
Samom Ibjen, District & Sessions Judge, Senapati; Ashem Tarunakumari Devi, CJM, Senapati and Merysana, Advocate took part in the Lok Adalat.
During the Lok Adalat, a sum of Rs 53,84,543 was settled, out of which Rs 10,15,543 was recovered. 19 pre-litigation bank cases and 4 Court pending cases were also settled.
