IMPHAL, Sep 12: A discussion on the legalization of alcohol was held today at Tentha Thongkhong Mandhop, Thoubal at 2 pm organised jointly by the Thoubal District United Women's Development Organisation (Thoubal Ima), Ikop Ningthou Chaokhat Khongthang Nupi Lup and Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA).
As per a press release issued by CADA, the event was attended by Laimujam Chandrajini, vice president Ikop Ningthou Chaokhat Khongthang Nupi Lup, Tentha; Moirangthem (O) Sanatombi, secretary, Thoubal Ima and Ningthoujam Doren, vice president, CADA as presidium members. Dipanjit Ningthoujam, vice president CADA and Mayengbam Budhi, secretary organisation CADA were present as resource persons. Mayengbam Budhi spoke at length about the tragic impact of alcohol on one's health and family and challenged the State Government's initiative to legalize the production and sale of country liquor and deemed it as a step to mislead the people. Moirangthem (O) Sanatombi called upon the public to stand together against alcohol and other narcotics and decried the Government initiative to legalise sale of alcohol.
