Kpi CSOs boycott Go to Hi
Our Correspondent
KANGPOKPI, Sep 20: Barely a day after few civil society organizations of Kangpokpi under the aegis of Sadar Hills Chief Association (SAHILCA) reportedly call-ed on Chief Minister N Biren Singh and expressed its support to the Go to Hills 2.0, several other civil society organizations of the district under the aegis of Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi District took a steadfast resolution to boycott the programme in the district.
They had even resolved that any individual or organization welcoming the Go to Hills programme shall be treated as 'traitors' to the tribal movement and henceforth all ties with them (those welcoming the Go to Hills programme) will be severed.
The resolutions were adopted during a joint meeting of Kuki Students' Organization Sadar Hills, Thadou Youth Association Sadar Hills, Gangte Students' Organization Sadar Hills, Gangte Tribe Union Sadar Hills, Kuki Women Union Sadar Hills, Zillai Sadar Hills, and KomRem Students' Union Sadar Hills under the aegis of Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi District at Kangpokpi district headquarters yesterday.
The joint meeting unanimously condemned the alleged appeasement policy of 'Go to Hills 2.0', stating that if the State Government is truly serious about hill development then they should discuss the Manipur ADC Bill, 2021 at the earliest.
"Until then, any Go to Hills programme will be boycotted in Kangpokpi," it resolved.
It also stated that SAHILCA does not represent the civil society orga- nizations of Kangpokpi district and their support to the  'Go to Hills' programme is not recognized by the people of Kangpokpi.
The meeting also decided to endorse all activities of the All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) in connection with the Manipur ADC Bill, 2021.
Meanwhile, the Kuki Students' Organization of Jiribam and Tamenglong District also expressed its firm endorsement of the ATSUM decision to boycott the 'Go to Hills' mission.
The student body said that the 'Go to Hills' mission of the Government is meaningless if the Government remains indifferent to the hill people's aspiration for real development and better administration as envisaged in the proposed Bill. The State Government should table the proposed ADC Bill 2021 in a special session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly if it really cares for the development of hill areas, it added. Earlier, various organizations of Tamenglong including Tamenglong Village Students Federation, Society for Enhancing Tamenglong, and United Women Organization Tamenglong under the aegis of Tamenglong Concerned Peoples' Forum had also endorsed the ATSUM decision to boycott the 'Go to Hills 2.0.'
However, the Tamenglong District People's Organization welcomed the 'Go to Hills 2.0' mission in the district.
