Electricity employees set to resume strike

IMPHAL, Sep 6 : The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Electricity Department Manipur (EDM), Manipur State Power Company Limited (MSPCL) and Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL) has announced to endorse the strike starting September 8 over the non implementation of 7th Pay (ROP) for the electricity staff.
The JAC was formed during a joint meeting of the Manipur Electricity Employees' Union (MEEU), Power Engineers Services, MSPCL (PESA) and MSPDCL Officers Association (MOA) at Keishampat today.
The JAC resolved to support the strike for the implementation  of 7th Pay for MSPCL, MSPDCL and  EDM staff starting September 8.
The meeting also resolved that the JAC will decide further decision or agreement regarding the implementation of 7th Pay (ROP-2019). According to MEEU, a sit-in protest   will be staged on September 8 by locking the offices of MSPDCL and  MSPCL on September 8 while prepaid  counters and division offices will be closed on September 9.
From September 10, the electricity staff will launch a cease work strike and  non maintenance of power outages till their demands are fulfilled.
It is reported that the MEEU has also submitted a memorandum each to the Commissioner (Power) and Managing Directors of MSPDCL and MSPCL in this regard.
The memorandum stated that the employees of MSPCL, MSPDCL and EDM will resume their strike that was suspended on April 19 if the Government fails to fulfil their demands on or before September 7.
