IMPHAL, Sep 7
Amidst the tall claim from various stakeholders of bringing quality education in the State, the All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has claimed that the Niladapna Higher Secondary School at Sekmai is being plagued by infrastructure inadequacy.
In a press release, AMSU Imphal West District Committee said that they went to the school for an inspection drive recently, only to find its conditions in a very sorry state.
According to AMSU, Niladapna Higher Secondary School at Sekmai was established in 1947.
Saying that the building construction  project of the school which commenced  a few years back under RMSA was found incomplete, the AMSU added that the absence of a Science laboratory at the school is also bothering the students of Science stream. The AMSU also found that the post of History teacher for Class XI and XII, which has been vacant since long, has not been  filled yet, it claimed.
Airing doubt that the school will be able to produce good students unless the inadequacy is solved, the students union continued that the school seems to be ignored by the department concerned despite the Government taking up measures to bring forth an inclusive education system.
The AMSU then urged the authority concerned to look into the matter and do the needful expeditiously.
