"World Physiotherapy Day" observed

IMPHAL, Sep 8 : As celebrated across the country and the world every year on September 8, the Indian Association of Physiotherapists (IAP), Manipur State Branch observed "World Physiotherapy Day" today here at Staff Club, Doctors Colony, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS).
The day was celebrated on the theme "Long Covid and rehabilitation" this year and observance was graced by Senior Physiotherapist, State Health Services Manipur, Nirmala Devi; Senior Physiotherapist, PMR RIMS, P Lolito and Physiotherapist, NHM Manipur as dignitaries among others.
The impact of Covid pandemic, issues induced by the pandemic  and roles and responsibilities of physiotherapists during these trying times were deliberated during the observation programme.
The ever changing scenario of medical sciences and the increasingly valuable contributions physiotherapy has been making were also put forth during the function. The experts also stressed on the need for a wider dissemination of use and importance of physiotherapy to the general masses at the occasion.
All Manipur Physio-Therapist Association (AMPA) also observed World Physical Therapy Day today at Uripok Sorbon Thingel.
Speaking at the event, Dr Leishangthem Romenkumar Meetei, secretary general AMPA said that a number of individuals who are recovering from COVID-19 are reported to have trouble in breathing and physiotherapists under AMPA had been extending their services to the recovering patients to ease the trouble. He also appealed to the Government to constitute an independent council for physiotherapy in the State.
