MDA raises BP issue

IMPHAL, Sep 9 : The Manipur Democratic Allian-ce (MDA) has submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to look into the issue of international Border Pillar No 81.
MDA is a conglomerate of nine political parties.
In the memorandum, the alliance stated that there have been numerous  reports of  encroachment  by the Myanmar Government  into the Indian territory in Manipur.
It further said that personnel from Survey of India inspected the disputed area in 2015 but left without solving the issue.
Claiming that the Myanmar authority encroached beyong the BP-81 recently, the MDA asked on what basis the Surveyor can locate the exact point of the boundary pillars .
In another memorandum, the MDA urged Governor La Ganesan  to provide a space in the heart of Imphal City preferably at the southern portion of Sahid Minar for the people to exercise their rights to freedom of speech and expression.
The alliance said that the right to freedom and expression and to assemble peacefully without arms is a fundamental right of the citizens of the country.
In Delhi, all citizens are allowed to express their opinions at Jantar Mantar.
