Poppy plantations destroyed

SPI/TPL, Jan 13: In continuation of "War against Drugs" initiative, a joint team of Senapati District police, Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB), Naga People’s Organisation (NPO) and Bendramai & Yangkhullen Students’ Organisation of Senapati district carried out poppy destruction drive at two locations in Senapati.
The team destroyed about 20 acres of poppy plantation at Yangkhullen Hill Range and 30 acres at Kamalong Hill Range (near Willong) under Maram Police station.
The drive was conducted under the overall supervision of Superintendents of Police Senapati, Karthik Malladi, IPS and led by Kaisungbou, MPS, Additional SP-NH-2 and Thangkhochong Haokip, MPS, Additional SP( Law & Order).
Jonah Mao, general secretary NPO; Bosco Maram, assistant general secretary NPO; Kaihrii Mao, art & culture secretary NPO; EH Peter Hau, president BYSO; Peiranglong Hoi, Edouding, vice president Zeme Students Union; Doyihangbe, general secretary ZYC; Lungyidaung, secretary ZYC; Helieding, vice president ZYC and Chipetraing, advisor ZYC also took part in the drive.
Another poppy destruction drive was carried out by a combined team of Tengnoupal District police, NAB, NCB, Forest Department and MR under the overall supervision of SP Tengnoupal in Machi Sub-division of Tengnoupal district on Wednesday.
Around 70 acres of poppy plants have been destroyed by the combined team in the last two days.
