Maram Students Union SportsKatomei Centre emerge men's football champs, Maram Khullen sweep volleyball titles

Senapati,  Jan 16: Katomei Centre were crowned men's football champions as Maram Khullen bagged both the men's and women's volleyball titles of the 32nd Maram Students Union (MKS) Sports meet held from January 7 to 14 at Brig RS Sirohi playground, T/Khullen village.
 The football tourney was held in memory of (Late) Lt Colonel Robert TA under the theme, "Victory in unity".
The valedictory function of the sports meet was graced by Robert T Maram, working president, NPF, Manipur State Unit as the chief guest in the presence of Chingpai Genevieve, wife of (Late) Lt Col Robert TA and Kanga Regina, president, Maram Women's Union as special guest and special invitee respectively.
Bosco Kashung T, president Maram Students Union (MKS) gave a welcome speech at the function before  Chingpai Genevieve paid tributes to young officers who gave up their lives for the sake of his countrymen.
Kanga Regina, president, Maram Women's Union lauded the youth of the community and encouraged them to bring laurels in different fields to the community, district and State as a whole.
Speaking as the chief guest, Robert T Maram lauded the student body for organising the sports meet in a grand manner.
Referring to the theme "Victory in unity", the chief guest urged all to strive for victory under God's plan without any partiality.
While Katomei Centre lifted the men's football trophy and walked away Rs 1,20,000 richer, runners up  Sangkungmei FC contended with runners up trophy and a cash prize of Rs 50,000. In the meantime, Ranuba of Kavanam FC, Lumsyiiba of T/Khullen and goal keeper of Kazanga FC were adjudged and feted respectively with best player award, highest scorer award and golden glove award. Best discipline team award, on the other hand, went to Pumdunglung FC.
Maram Khullen men's and women's team who emerged volleyball champions were feted with trophies and a cash prize of Rs 60,000 each as men's volleyball runners up, Sagongbam and women's volleyball runners up, Willong Khullen settled for trophies and cash reward of Rs 30,000 each.
Kasagaba of Maram Khullen was named men's volleyball's best player while Rangala of Willong Khullen was best player in women's volleyball. The organising committee also extended their gratitude to Chief Minister, N Biren Singh for being the chief patron of the sports meet.
