Veteran T-20 Cricket LCCC beat Model Club by 1 wicket, both qualify for semi-finals

IMPHAL, Jan 18 : LCCC, Lilong Chajing beat Model Club by 1 wicket in a nervy clash for Group A pole position in the 9th T-20 Veteran Cricket Tournament at Oriental College and Model Hr Secondary School playground today.
With two wins and a draw, LCCC emerged Group winners and entered semi-finals along with Model Club who have won two previous matches.
Put in to bat first, Model Club posted a lowly target of 106 runs at the cost of 5 wickets  in their quota of 20 overs before LCCC battled hard to chase and posted a winning 109 within 19.1 overs with only one wicket left in the hand.
In Model Club's batting, Santosh scored 13 off 20 balls before Chaoba and Priyobrata added identical 23 as Cherish top-scored with an unbeaten 24 off 22 balls.
The innings saw Ashokumar (1/16 in four overs), Rakesh (1/12 in 3 overs), Akbar (1/23 in 4 overs) and Jillangamba (1/24) taking a wicket apiece.
In reply, Chaoba fetched 3 wickets for 14 runs in 4 overs and Saratchandra and Bobin bagged two wickets each to put pressure on LCCC, but the Lilong side withstood the pressure to finish the innings for 109/9 with a boundary.
The run getters who made it to the scoresheet for the winning side were Srinivash (23), Sanjit (17), Jillangamba (14) and Seityajit (9).
Jillangamba who scored 14 runs and picked a wicket was named man of the match.
CHAMP will play OSCAR in a Group B league match tomorrow at the same venue.
