Spurt continues with 380 more cases recorded IE, IW, CCpur constitute bulk of new cases with 300

IMPHAL, Jan 18 : The spurt in new cases continues with Manipur adding 380 new Covid cases in the last 24 hours to take the cumulative number of positive cases to 1,27,873.
The number of active cases now stands at 1791 including 279 Central security personnel.
The new 380 cases include 8 Central security personnel and 182 women.
No deaths were reported in the last 24 hours and the death toll remains unchanged at 2015.
In a statement, the COVID-19 Common Control Rooms said that the positive cases were detected during testing conducted at RIMS (22), JNIMS (48) and other testing centres (310).
The 372 civilians who tested positive in the last 24 hours are from Imphal East (79), Imphal West (148), Thoubal (16), Bishnupur (16), Kakching (3), Kangpokpi (24), Noney (1), Ukhrul (5), Tamenglong (2), Tengnoupal (1), Senapati (2), Chandel (2) and Churachandpur (73).
As in the last few days, Imphal East, Imphal West and Churachandpur make up the bulk of the total 380 cases accounting for 300 of them.
All necessary precautionary measures have been taken up including containment and contact tracing, claimed the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
The 380 new cases were detected while testing 2724 samples to take the daily positivity rate to 14 percent.
A total of 46 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours from home isolation (22), JNIMS (3) and CCCs (21).
With 46 more persons discharged, the cumulative number of recovered cases is now 1,24,067 including 4456 Central security personnel.
The recovery rate stands at 97.02 percent.
Sounding an alert, the COVID-19 Common Control Room has asked passengers who arrived at Imphal on January 14 by AI 715 and occupied seat numbers from 17 to 24 and flight 6E-6014 in seat numbers 13 to 31 to inform the Covid Control Room via 1800343818 or respective District Surveillance Officers (DSO).
The daily positivity rate continues to be high in some districts with Kangpokpi leading the table with 28.2 percent, Churachandpur (26.7 percent), Imphal East (18.6 percent), Imphal West (15.4 percent), Bishnupur (13.3 percent) and Thoubal (12.7 percent).
The number of Covid doses administered on January 17 is 8452 taking the total number of doses administered to 23,95,965 including 10,21,743 second dose and 7922 precautionary dose.
The hill districts continue to occupy the lower end of the vaccination table with Kangpokpi still coming at the bottom with 13.50 percent having received the second dose and 20.16 percent the first dose. Ukhrul district is just a notch higher with 19.15 percent receiving the second dose and 25.81 the first dose. Kamjong rounds off the three spot from the bottom with just 23.16 percent receiving the second dose and 34.70 the first dose.
