IMPHAL, Jan 23 : Strongly protesting at being overlooked over the ticket allocation for the coming Assembly election, former MLA Dr E Dwijamani has announced the dissolution of Congress party in Hiyanglam Assembly Constituency during a public meeting today.
The Congress has given its ticket for Hiyanglam AC to one Dr Huidrom Jiten Singh.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting at Hiyanglam Awang Leikai today, Dr Dwijamani condemned the Congress leaders for giving the ticket for the AC to someone who is not recognised by the BCC and DCC.
Saying that he had served MPCC for 12 long years as vice president, the former MLA continued that any applicant seeking admission to the party must submit its form to BCC and DCC as per the constitution of INC.
The candidate who received a Congress ticket in Hiyanglam is not recognised by DCC and BCC, he rued.
Claiming that BCC, BYCC, BMCC, NSUI and other  party  frontal organisations including Kakching District Congress  Committee
have unanimously resolved to dissolve Congress in Hiyanglam AC, Dr Dwijamani accused former Chief Minister O Ibobi of oppressing its own party workers.
The MLA said that he joined Congress at the age of 42 after retiring from the teaching profession.
Saying that he could easily win the 12th Assembly election had Congress fielded him in the Constituency, Dr Dwijamani maintained that the days of Congress in the AC is now over.
"I wasn't nominated for 2010 MPCC presidential election by O Ibobi despite getting support from 95 percent of PCC members," he alleged and added that the post was given to Gaikhangam  who was supported by only a few members apart from making him the Deputy Chief Minister too.
He also said that all the MPCC presidents elected after Gaikhangam were all defectors from other parties.
"I decided to leave Congress so as to not work under the high handedness of Ibobi", Dr Dwijamani said.
On the  probability of joining other parties, the former MLA said that he will take the decision after thorough consideration.
Dr Dwijamani continued that he might join a National political party or contest the election independently.
