Monthlong training programme kicks off

Two Skill Development Programme for Mushroom Growers and Bee Keepers under MIDH from 24th January to 23rd February, 2022 was opened today at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat, Imphal.
The programme was attended by Ms. Honey Chara, Director, Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Government of Manipur ; K Debdutta Sharma, Mission Director (MIDH) and Project Director (MOVCDNER), Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation; Dr I Meghachandra Singh, Joint Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region Manipur Centre as presidium members.
In her address Ms Honey Chara stressed the importance of the mushroom cultivation and beeking keeping to the small/marginal farmers of the state.
K Debdutta Sharma appreciated the quality of the training imparted by the ICAR Manipur to the farmers of the Manipur state which resulted in many successful entrepreneurs of agriculture and its allies. He also appealed to all the trainees from different districts to fully utilize this opportunity by acquiring better systematic and scientific knowledge about mushroom cultivation and bee keeping.
He also shared the information that new technologies for shiitake and button mushroom cultivation from composting developed by the ICAR Manipur Centre for easier and faster production.
Dr I Meghachandra Singh stated that mushroom and beekeeping are the important components for the small/marginal farmers.
He cited that using the technology developed by ICAR Manipur Centre the farmer can go for high value mushroom production both for button and shiitake even if it will be involving higher skills level as it will fetch good prices as well as consumer preference.
We can think of both organic honey and organic mushroom production to fetch higher market value.
The inaugural training programmes were concluded with vote of thanks from Dr SS Roy, Senior Scientist, ICAR Manipur Centre.
