KAKCHING, Jan 29: Thoubal Forests Division in association with Legal Aid Clinic, Hiyanglam and OKHO Trust, Langmeidong on Saturday organised a one day awareness programme on "Environment & wildlife protection" at the office of Legal Aid Clinic in Hiyanglam Awang Leikai.
It was attended by Divisional Forests Officer Thoubal, Th Lokendro Singh; Nouba Thouna, director, OKHO Trust, Langmeidong; and W Amusana Devi, Co-ordinator, Legal Aid Clinic Hiyanglam as presidium members.
Naorem Munal Meitei, ACF; T Rameshwar Singh; M Chandrashekhar Singh and W Romesh Singh, convenor JCCWB also attended the programme as resource persons.
Speaking on the occasion, N Munal stressed on the need of a dedicated and strong civil society organisation in the state to preserve and protect the environment.
He pointed out that like JCILP is focused on Inner Line Permit and CADA on drugs, a dedicated environmental civil body is necessary to protect the environment and wildlife.
Stating that preservation of the environment will not be successful without the cooperation of the public, N Munal appealed to the public to provide their assistance to the concerned department and others working to protect the environment.
