NIA formally arrests 7 RPF cadres

IMPHAL, Oct 17: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) Imphal Branch has formally arrested seven RPF/PLA cadres from Central Jail Sajiwa and taken them to five days custody till October 21.
The seven  RPF/PLA cadres have been identified as Chingkham Basanta (38) of Andro Nungyungbi, Moirangthem Jitesh (22) of Kakching Ningthou Leikai, Konjengbam Romio alias Nongthon (28) of Moirang Konjengbam, Phanjoubam Rabi alias Nanao (26) of Andro Labaochum Ching Leikai, Salam Mangijao (55) of Kakching Wairi Salam Leikai, Naorem Manoj (23) of Luker Mayai Leikai and Samurailatpam Akash alias Muston (19) Rajeswor of Kakching Wairi Sabal Bamon Leikai.
They were produced before the Special Court NIA Manipur by NIA Imphal Branch along with a prayer for 5-days police custody remand.
They were arrested for alleged involvement in killings at Kakching on June 23 and at Andro Huikap on July 8.
It may be noted that 8 cadres of the RPF/PLA including a minor were arrested by a combined team of Thoubal Commando and 16 Assam Rifles on August 13. The security forces had seized two 9mm pistols and two hand grenades from their possession.
