A 22-year-old Tangkhul lad, Thanpam Kasomhung from Manipur’s Ukhrul district, student of Indian Institute of Management, Ranchi (IIM-R) has bagged a 67 lakh per annum placement at Tolaram Group, a Singapore business enterprise in a campus placement.
While the placement process is still going on, his offer is said to be the highest in the campus so far.
“I feel as if I am still in dreams. The feeling has yet to sink in. My interview was also like a dream. I don’t know how I did it, although I studied really hard, as a fresher it was my first time. The interview was over with a lot of laughter. I think it’s my luck. But I am really happy for this opportunity”, said the excited young Thanpam Kasomhung when Ekhon TV spoke to him on phone.
Hailing from Hungpung in Ukhrul district, Thanpam Kasomhung lost his parents, Late Stone Kasomhung and Late Maireila Kasomhung when he was still very young. He completed his 10th and 12th standard from Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School, Hungpung and his graduation from Mangalore.
Afterwards, he said, he tried his luck in CAT, of course with a lot of hard work, and got into IIM-Ranchi Thanpam is currently pursuing an MBA with a major in marketing. His course will complete in March 2023 and he will report for work in May, 2023.
He told this reporter, as per the short briefing, he will be flown to the corporate office of Lagos, Nigeria in May 2023 for on ground management training and study consumer behavior for one year. Once the training is completed, he will come back to Singapore Corporate office in the role of a brand manager. The 22-year-old is particularly happy that he was able to get the sought after international placement in the campus.
While companies like Google, Microsoft etc are also present, they are domestic recruitment. Tolaram Group is a strategic campus placement partner for IIM Ranchi. However, they stopped recruiting after 2018, due to the onslaught of COVID-19. They resumed their placement this year.
