MPCC observes Nehru’s birth anniv

IMPHAL, Nov 14: India is now emerging as a powerful country in the world as a result of the solid foundation laid by the country’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, claimed Congress Legislature Party leader and former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi.
Ibobi was speaking at the 133rd birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru observed today at Congress Bhavan here under the aegis of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC).
AICC Steering Committee member Gaikhangam, MPCC president K Meghachandra and many other Congress leaders took part in the birth anniversary observation.  
Speaking on the occasion, Ibobi recalled the contributions made by Jawaharlal Nehru for the country including the North  East region.
It was Jawaharlal Nehru who laid a strong foundation for a modern India which is now emerging as a powerful country, Ibobi said.
For all his contributions towards building a modern India, Jawaharlal Nehru was known across the world as the architect of modern India.
K Meghachandra noted that the birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru is celebrated across the country as Children's Day in recognition of his immense love for children and his sustained fight for their rights.
Many Congress MLAs, ex-MLAs and the party’s office bearers too attended the programme.
