Maj Gen Ranjan Sharawat takes charge as IG Baton changes hands at IGAR (S)

IMPHAL, Jan 31 : Major General Rajan Sharawat took over the reins of Assam Rifles in Manipur as the new Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South).
He relieved Major General Alok Naresh who proceeded on posting after successfully completing his tenure, said a statement of IGAR(S).
"A highly qualified and proficient officer with vast counter insurgency experience, Major General Rajan Sharawat has previously commanded a unit in Assam and a Brigade in Jammu and Kashmir", it added.
The new Inspector General has appealed to the people of Manipur to continue extending their love and support to the security forces.
He also urged the State Government officials and members of the media for their cooperation and empathy.
Maj Gen Ranjan Sharawat further exhorted all ranks of the IGAR (South) to continue striving for peace and prosperity in Manipur.
