IMPHAL, Jan 31 : THAU-A women kicked off the 1st MNCA Women's One Day Trophy organised by the Manipur Cricket Association with a comprehensive 186 run victory over PTCC, Patsoi here at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium today.
In all 5 teams, including two THAU teams, are taking part in this inaugural edition of the tournament (35 over an innings). PTCC had to rue their decision to bowl first as Seterny Devi Brahmachari-mayum and Kalpana Devi Keisham stitched together a 150 run partnership before Seterny was run out when she was a run away from scoring a half century in the last ball of the 22nd over.
Kalpana Devi, who stayed a little more time, succumbed to PTCC's Bandana but emerged highest run getter with 77 runs off 67 deliveries in which she smashed 13 fours.
And with Milan Chanu and Meri Keithellakpam adding 23 runs (not out) and 15 runs (not out) and 57 extra conceded by PTCC bowlers, THAU-A posted 227 runs for 5 in 35 overs.
Bandana returned with the best bowling figures (3/34 in 7 overs) in this innings and Niruka managed a wicket for 20 runs in 6 overs.
PTCC, however bundled out for just 41 runs within 21.1 overs in the chase as THAU-A's concerted bowling attack had a huge impact on the PTCC batters.
Teresa was the highest run getter for PTCC with 9 runs to her name in this innings which saw 5 batters fall on ducks.
THAU-A's Kiranbala Chanu Haorungbam (2/12 in 4 overs), Rani Devi Chingangbam (2/1 in 4 overs) and Milan Chanu Yambem (2/3 in 5 overs) shared two wickets in this innings while Meri Keithellakpam, Ronibala Chanu Thokchom and Nilopher Tokpam shared a wicket apiece.
Keisham Kalpana Devi who hit a half century, was named woman of the match.
THAU-B will play PTRC in the next match of the Round Robin tournament tomorrow.
