O Joy asserts

IMPHAL, Feb 13 : Veteran politician Okram Joy has said that he had decided to contest in the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election from Langthabal AC to restore democracy, socialism and secularism in the State.
INC candidate Okram Joy made the remark during a programme held at Langthabal Kunja Makha Leikai organised by Langthabal Block Congress Committee today and alleged that the BJP led Government has demeaned the democratic values.
The act of touching the floor and crying while entering the Parliament by the Prime Minister for the first time back in May 21 2014, had won the hearts of the people but after 8 years of NDA rule under their motto of 'one Nation, one religion and one language', the values of socialism and secularism have been undermined, Okram Joy added.
He added that the BJP led Government has handed over the country to monopolists, capitalists and industrialists.
The country which used to be at 24th rank in Democratic Index has slumped to 43rd rank and Freedom of Press has been 'compromised.'
To save the State and the country at large from these, he had decided to fight the election from Langthabal AC in the upcoming election as an INC candidate, Okram Joy told the public.
