Protest staged against firing at Laphupat Tera

THOUBAL, Feb 24: People of Bengoon on Thursday came out to protest the indiscriminate firing of live rounds and hurling of stones at the residence of Mayang Imphal AC MLA, Kongkham Robindro in Laphupat Tera by unknown miscreants on February 23.
Speaking on the sideline of the protest, Joint Youth Development Committee Mayang Imphal Bengoon member, Chesam Achouba expressed his concern over the increasing cases of poll related violence in the constituency.
He appealed to the Election Commission of India to look into the matter to ensure peaceful conduct of the forthcoming election.
Placards with the slogans, "We condemn goondaism", "We want peace", etc were used at  the protest.
A similar protest was also staged at Laphupat Tera Mayai Leikai today by the supporters of BJP denouncing the poll related violence on the night of February 23.
