Held with opium

IMPHAL, Feb 6 : A team of Bishnupur commandos arrested one 56 year old man with 3.5 kg of opium from Samulamlan under Kumbi police station yesterday.
The person has been identified as Md Islamuddin of Borayangbi Mayai Leikai, Ward no 2.  
According to reliable information, the team carried out an intensified frisking and checking drive along the Samulamlan route on receiving inputs about the transportation of drugs items there.
While carrying out the drive, the team came across one car ( Renault Kwid) and on seeing the security force the driver tried to flee from the spot, said sources. Though the team managed to catch Md Islammudin, other occupants of the car fled by taking advantage of the darkness, it added.
The arrested person has been handed over to Kumbi police station along with the seized opium.
