Hiyanglam RPI (A) candidate denounces poll related violence

IMPHAL, Mar 2: The Republican Party of India (Athawale) candidate of Hiyanglam AC, Nongmaithem Sanjay has called for concerted efforts for a fair and peaceful election in the constituency.
Addressing media persons during a press conference today, he said that flags and banners at camps of RPI (A) at Langmeidong Maning Leikai and Mamang Leikai and Elangkhangpokpi in Hiyanglam AC were destroyed by some miscreants yesterday night.
He further stated that a scuffle broke out at the area of polling station no. 38/4, Sekmaijin Khunou yesterday night when some BJP supporters from a nearby camp hurled slang words to RPI (A) supporters and spoke of them in a demeaning manner when they went to buy some things at a local shop.
During the scuffle, a woman from the locality got hurt and the situation was brought under control by a team of Hiyanglam Police and the matter was solved amicably, he added.
But he denounced the act of some miscreants who destroyed the flags and banners of RPI (A) aftermath the incident and termed it as really unfortunate.
Lastly he appealed to all concerned to refrain from such undemocratic acts and poll related violence to ensure that the election is held in a peaceful manner.
