12th Journalists' Sports MeetThe Sangai Express claim maiden football title

IMPHAL, Mar 23 : The Sangai Express earned the maiden football title of the Journalists' Sports Meet organised by the All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) this year by beating ISTV Network 1-0 in the final match on March 21.
The Sangai Express entered final after thrashing Eveningers 3-0 in the first round match at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium and beating TOM TV 1-0 in the semi-final.
Having retained the cricket title in 2018, The Sangai Express also successfully defended their cricket title for the fourth time by cruising to a 20 run victory yesterday against Impact TV in the final at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium. It is the 7th title for The Sangai Express having sealed the title in 2015, 2016 before ISTV Network broke the title streak in 2017.
Earlier on the second day of the sports meet (March 19), Thokchom Kishan opened the medal account for The Sangai Express by winning a gold medal in the discus throw event with a 28.52 m throw. He also won a silver medal in the shot put event with a throw of 11.54 m before Nongthombam Adison added a bronze medal by recording 4.73 m in the long jump event.
The overall team champions title of the 12th edition of the sports meet  went to ISTV Network yet again as Impact TV finished overall team runners up.
