We need only one Government

Flagging off, I really appreciate the roles our patriotic student organisations have taken till today in pushing the limits of the society where education brackets and even to Government at times. I grew up being a part of many student organisations in Manipur, Delhi, Asia, Canada, USA and many others. The basics that I learnt was - maintain, request and defend.
The supreme rights that a student in or out of any organisation needs to exercise is to abide by the law of the land, for which it helps in great ways while growing into a better citizen. But without a second thought, if any individual feels overly responsible for anything, trying to get a passage where they think-with fake responsibility comes with the power, he should be put behind bars. Yes ! And vice versa of it is comfortable but not this responsibility calling for powers.
I won’t really name the incident that took place a few days ago but taking rights in our own hands and burning musical instruments that serviced the eternal cultural dance-Thabal Chongba, was a dark moment for Manipur students intellect. I guess it’s time we take off all the cultural lessons from our text for what happened was not very different from Shantidas Gosai burning our Holi Puya. Shame Shame Shame. Yes! There might be seem-like reasons that hold valid to say what happened was reasonable enough to burn the instruments but, trust me - things have gone a little far this time.
When everything meets the end of expression, music takes a step further. Hearing all the cries of the music lords of Manipur against what happened, it made me feel incomplete to not write my thoughts on what happened. Above all, let’s take a step back and rethink what our Chief Minister said on this issue, for he clearly mentioned not to dictate the Government and most importantly there are no two Governments in the State.
Keeping this issue aside, we as Manipuris are fans of feeling the wrath of being in power. I know many who want to get their voices to a certain height, they tend to play under the umbrella of certain so & so organisations.
Without beating around the bush much, let’s not repeat it as a habit of whatever happened but learn to help the Governmental department do what’s needed. Instead of taking laws in our hands, pressure the Government to take actions over anything that’s needed to keep up the justice.
I strongly want the Government to take action over those who took law into their own hands. And also would like the Government to seize those organisations who think democracy is a joke.
I would like to cut my article short here. I grew up in a free and democratic India, I would like to completely exercise the Constitution by keeping the boundaries in my mind. Through this article, I would like to have the attention of those in power to do justice for musicians. I don’t want another Shantidas Gosai burning my culture.
