Remand for accused

IMPHAL, Mar 3 : The Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West remanded one Yumnam Momocha to five days police custody for allegedly developing a fake application of MSPDCL.
Accused Yumnam Momocha Singh (24), s/o Y Ratan Singh of Wangoo Ahallup Awang Leikai, Bishnupur district was arrested on March 2.
He was produced before the Court through video conference by Cyber Crime Police Station Manipur along with a prayer for five days police remand.
The IO of the case said that a complaint was lodged by the Managing Director of MSPDCL on August 4, 2021, stating that a mobile apps- MSPDCL  Electric Recharge Bill Payment App listed in the Android Play Store has recklessly embedded the official billing website of MSPDCL.
Further, MSPDCL has not given any rights/ authorisation to develop this app, it said and continued that such an illegal act has defamed the reputation of MSPDCL.
The Court after hearing the submission of the IO and on perusal of the case record remanded the accused to police custody till March 7.
