Herojit files application

IMPHAL, Mar 3 : Thounaojam Herojit, one of the accused of the July 23, 2009 Khwairamband Keithel firing incident, has filed an application before the Session Judge Imphal East to tender a pardon to him, today.
The application mentioned that Thounaojam Herojit (37), s/o Shyamsunder of Lamdeng Awang Leikai is in favour of prosecution right from the beginning of the case and has been waiting for the CBI to approach him.
Since the CBI has so far not taken up any step as has been wished by the accused, the applicant is approaching this Court to tender pardon to him so that he can do the needful to deliver justice to the victims of the case, it said.
The application also mentioned that the accused has no enmity with the other accused of the case nor has the intention to produce false evidence.
The Court furnished a copy of the application to the CBI for reply and fixed March 23 for hearing.
Thounaojam Herojit, had in January 2016, claimed that he shot Chungkham Sanjit on July 23, 2009 under the instruction of then Additional SP Imphal West Dr Akoijam Jhalajit.
The case was handed over to the CBI after sequential photographs of the incident were published in Tehelka Magazine.
The trial of the case is in the stage of examination  and out of the six accused 4 had been examined by the Court.
