CHANDEL, Apr 11
The South East Manipur Higher Secondary School (SEMHSS), Kapaam has clarified that the unfortunate incident of April 9, 2022 took placed at SEMHSS HSE centre and not at South East Manipur College (SEMCO) as circulated in various local news and social media.
In a release, the Principal of SEMHSS Kapaam stated that the allegations against invigilators for harassing the students, including denial to quench thirst while writing exam, is baseless and a mischievous attempt to undermine the school.
"The SEMHSS hosts the ongoing XII exam under the guidelines and precautions of COHSEM and ensures the well being of the students. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the school enforced mandatory Covid protocol including safe social distancing and non-sharing of water bottles among the students; the invigilators provided water bottles to the students in need", it added.
"The school is concerned about the unfortunate incident of the students who not only rioted at the exam centre but proceeded to disturb other exam centres including the physical and mental harassment of innocent SEMHSS students writing their exams at one of the affected centres", it added.
The school appreciated the timely intervention by Chandel police, Kakching police and Pallel police teams in mediating the snowballed incidents, and their assistance in escorting the affected and aggrieved students to their respective exam centres.
The school also appreciated the assistance provided by NSUC.
SEMHSS further appealed to all concerned to verify information and facts from multiple sources before spreading one sided factlets so that the public may get access to the truth.
