IMPHAL, Apr 18 : Manipur women's cricket team are back to winning ways as they secured a comprehensive 81 run victory over Sikkim for their second win in three Plate Group matches of the ongoing Senior Women's T-20 League.
Winning the toss at Amingaon Cricket Ground in Guwahati, Manipur rode on Ganga Waikhom's blitzkrieg 51 to post a total of 146 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 9 wickets and skittled out Arunachal Pradesh for 65 runs in 19 overs for the comprehensive win
Arunachal bowling attack led by Shivi Yadav and her co, Nabam Yapu inflicted huge damage from the very start of the innings Nabam Yapu bowled out Kalpana on golden duck in the opening ball before Manipur were reduced to 2/21 with the departure of Loidangton Th (11) in the 5th over (4.4 overs) to Yapu yet again after she put in a 27 run partnership with Waikhom Ganga.
Rebika who came in for the third wicket had a brief stay before Waikhom Ganga eased the pressure with Monica (11) by gathering 45 runs off 27 balls.
Shivi Yadav however came handy as she removed Monica (11) and Waikhom Ganga in the first two successive balls of the 12th over to leave a huge dent. Chingkhei M (25) and Linthoingambi RK (18) also managed a 31 run 8th wicket partnership off 23 balls to keep the scoreboard ticking before Kiranbala H (11 not out) and Th Mangalsana (1 not out) finished off the innings.
For Arunachal Pradesh, Shivi Yadav returned with the best bowling figures of 4/30 in 4 overs while Nabam Yapu scalped three for 11 runs in 4 overs. B Ritu (1/15) and Mai Mekh (1/17) also managed a wicket each.
Shivi Yadav and Nabam Yapu's effort however went in vain as Manipur bowlers produced an impeccable bowling effort to keep things tight and bundle them out for just 65 runs with 1 over left to spare.
Saving Mai Mekh (13), Arunachal Pradesh batters failed to add double digit runs in this innings which saw Manipur's Monica clinching two crucial wickets for 10 runs in 4 overs and Chingkhei M, Th Mangalsana, Ganga Waikhom and Milan Y taking a wicket each.
Manipur will play Jammu and Kashmir in the next match tomorrow at ACA Stadium, Barsapara, Guwahati.
