MYCO bags 7 prizes in 52nd Short Play Competition for Creative Directors

IMPHAL, Apr 20 : Manipur Youth Cultural Organisation (MYCO) bagged as many as 7 prizes in the 52nd Short Play Competition for Creative Directors which was organised by Theatre Centre Manipur under the aegis of Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi.
The prize distribution function of competition was held today at Manipur Dramatic Union hall, Yaiskul in the presence of Langthabal AC MLA, Karam Shyam; Padma Shri Wareppa Naba who is also president of Theatre Centre Manipur and Soraisham Keshoram Singh, president of Manipur Dramatic Union as the presidium members.
In all, 10 theatre groups/ troupes participated in the competition.
In his speech as functional president, Naba Wareppa dwelt on the need for studying the hardships faced by cultural activist and redressal of existing cultural policies. He also urged the State Government to help revive cultural bodies in the State.
Speaking as chief guest of the function, Karam Shyam said the role of State artistes in promulgating Manipur art forms across the globe is laudable and something to be proud of. The artistes deserve to be recognised and acknowledged, he said while adding that he will surely raise concerns and issues faced by artistes to the Minister who will be holding the Art and Culture portfolio.
Stressing on the significance of time, Shyam also stated that only the right approach at the right time will render success.
Sarungbam Beeran, director of Manipur Theatre Academy, Wangoi and Nimai Senjam, director, North Eastern Artists Association, Heingang were also presented gifts at the occasion.
