National Panchayati Raj Day celebrated

In line with the observation of National Panchayati Raj Day, Leima Chanu Nawa Tengbang Lup in association with Bharat Vikas Parishad Manipur State Branch and Sangai Trust Foundation provided assistance to Senior Citizen Home in Thoubal Wangbal on Sunday.
It was attended by Leima Chanu Nawa Tengbang Lup president, Dr S Bhagyabati Devi; Dr Shapam Rabi Singh, ENT, PGT Rims; Dr Nurul Hasan; Joybi Heikrujam, regional secretary Bharat Vikas Parishad Manipur State Branch; Salam Prasanta Singh, campaigner "We will Develop when we know our Self" and managing trustee of Sangai Trust Foundation; and representatives of pharmaceutical companies Novamed, Lupin Diabetes Care and Eris Inspira Decisions.
At the event, Salam Prasanta Singh elaborated on Mahatma Gandhi's vision of "Gram Swaraj" and "The future of India lies in its villages".
Moreover, on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day, a special Gram Sabha for Pangantabi Gram Panchayat under Langmeidong CD Block, Kakching was held at its Panchayat Ghar.
It was attended by Ningthoujam Indibala, pradhan Pangantabi Gram Panchayat along with Panchayet Secretary, GRS, ward members and villagers of the area.
Ningthoujam Indibala also handed over a wheelchair to a woman of Tangjeng.
Likewise, to commemorate National Panchayati Raj Day, 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 22 Sector AR/ IGAR (East) organised a 2-days cleanliness drive at Chalwa Village of Kangpokpi district on Sunday.  
The cleanliness drive was conducted to motivate the local population about the importance of cleanliness and promote Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, said a release issued by PIB Defence Wing.
The event was organised in close coordination with the village authorities of Chalwa.
Villagers of the area including children took part in the cleanliness drive and assured to continue working with the Assam Rifles for development of the area.
