THOUBAL, Apr 28: Students of Poiroukhongjin High School in Andro Assembly Constituency on Thursday staged a sit-in-protest against the lack of infrastructure and teachers in the school.
The students along with their parents/guardians urged the Education Minister and authorities concerned to look into the matter at the earliest and initiate measures to improve the academic atmosphere of the school.
Speaking to media persons, a student informed that the school presently has only 14 teachers including the headmaster out of the required 30 teachers.
Stating that they have been facing a lot of difficulties in their academics due to the shortage of teachers, the students urged the authorities concerned to intervene and send the required number of teachers to the school at the earliest.
A parent also expressed his concern over the lack of sufficient teachers, staff and infrastructure in the school including proper water supply.
The protesters further informed that during the survey conducted on June 29, 2021 under School Fagat-Hansi Mission, the officials have been intimidated about the lack of proper infrastructure and staff.
"However, no visible measures or initiatives have been taken by the authorities concerned to address the issues plaguing the school till date", the protesters asserted.
