Lions Club distributes

IMPHAL, Apr 3 : Lions Club of Imphal in collaboration with Lions Club of Imphal Northern Hemisphere distributed sanitary pads and V Wash today to around 60 girls of Nalini Astham and Open Shelter for Girls operated by Nirvana Foundation at Ghari Awang Leikai.
In a statement, Lions Club of Imphal stated that the initiative was carried out under Lions Clubs International's 'One Multiple One Activity' campaign with the slogan 'Health and Dignity for Her'.
As a part of the function, Lion Dr Y Iboton Singh, Retd Professor RIMS presented a lecture for the benefit of the girls. He highlighted the importance of consuming healthy food and exercise to avoid lifestyle diseases like diabetes and fluctuating BP.
Senior paediatrician Lion Dr Shyamkumar Laishram stressed on the importance of education and knowing one's rights to live a dignified life. He also mentioned the difference between 'good touch' and 'bad touch' and urged the girls to never forget it for their own safety. Dr Shyamkumar also taught the girls about menstrual hygiene.
District Governor elect of Lions Club District 322,  Lion Dr W Gopimohan said that Lions Club is an organization that exists to support people in their time of need.
Lion Sarungbam Premi and Lion Th Nitish, club secretary, handed over an amount of Rs 10,000 and Rs 2000 respectively to Nalini Astham and Open Shelter for Girls.
