Mapithel Newgen Farmers Club organises legal awareness programme

IMPHAL, May 11: Mapithel Newgen Farmers Club under the sponsorship of Manipur State Commission for Women today organised a one day legal awareness programme on "Socio-economic empowerment for women" at Community Hall, New Cannan village, Ukhrul district.
During the programme, resource persons, T Chuogsin Koireng, member Manipur State Commission for Women delivered a lecture on "Role and importance of women commission in the state"; Prof Ranjit Sharma, Director, Extension Education, CAU, Imphal on "Biological control of insect in vegetables"; and Prof Kh Ibohal, HoD, Department of Entomology, CAU, Imphal on "Integrated pest management".
Pipi Keithellakpam, proprietor Keithelakpam Piggery Farm, Imphal west also spoke on "Importance of piggery farming in Manipur" and T Rajkishor, advocate on "Rights of women & social empowerment".
The legal awareness programme was participated by 102 women farmers from 7 villages namely, Chadong, Louphong, Lamlai Khunou, Thoyee, Riha, New canaan and Ramrei.
Later, Rabi and Kharif vegetable seeds were also distributed to the farmers.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Nepolean Shaiza.
