Manipuri Cultural Festival-2022 kicks off

A 3 day Manipuri Cultural Festival-2022 kicked off today at Chana Pukhri Mapal in Imphal East district today.
The festival has been jointly organised by the Chana Lukhoi Art Centre (CLAC), Chana Mayai Leikai and Patriotic Writers Forum (PAWF) Manipur.
The inaugural function was graced by Irungbam Rabichandra, Zilla Parishad Member, Sawombung, president of PAWF, Naoroibam Khamba Luwang, Sahitya Akademi Awardee Saratchand Thiyam and renowned playwright Chana Lukhoi as the presidium members, said a press release by PAWF.
As a part of the inaugural programme, homage and floral tributes was paid to the photo of renowned Pena (bowed mono-string instrument) singer of Konung (late) Khaidem Mani and a "Pena Phamshak" (Pena performance) and "Pung Cholom" was presented in his honour.
Addressing the gathering, Chana Lukhoi underscored the importance of safeguarding the traditional art forms laid by the forefathers to carry forward the legacy to the future generations and appealed all to contribute towards the cause.
Naoroibam Khamba Luwang stated that Patriotic Writers Forum Manipur has been organising cultural festivals not only in the State but also in Bangladesh with an aim to motivate the artists who are into these traditional art forms and expressed belief that such festivals will help in  strengthening the bond among the writers and the artists as well, added the press release.
