33rd Students' Emancipation Day to be observed

As observed annually, the 33rd Students' Emancipation Day will be held at Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School on May 28 (Saturday).
The observation will commenced by paying floral tributes to the memorial stone at Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School and will be organised by the All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU), Bishnupur District 33rd Students Emancipation Day Observation Committee, said a press release issued by the convenor of the committee.
The day is observed to commemorate the bravery and sacrifices of the students who strove earnestly for students' rights and resorted to democratic protest urging the authorities concerned to fulfill the requirements of Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School in 1973 and 1979.
It may be noted that three students lost their lives owing to the atrocities meted upon them by the police personnel of Moirang Police Station.
The Committee further informed that a four day residential students camp will be held ahead of the observation and sought support and co-operation from all spheres for the same.
