IMPHAL, May 12 : Helping Hand Group Academy, Sangaiprou and CT Higher Secondary School were crowned champions of the Imphal West District Level Subroto Mukerjee Football Under-14 & Under-17 Boys Tournament respectively, today.
In the first final match, CT Higher Sec School sealed a narrow 3-2 win over Kanan Devi Memorial School and emerged champions of the Under-17 boys category.
The match witnessed CT Higher Secondary School dominating the early portion of the game as they netted three goals consecutively in the 10th, extra time of first half and 31st minute but the players representing Kanan Devi Memorial School weren't discouraged by the deficit and manifested their competency till the final whistle .
The effort of Kanan Devi boys, however, was short-lived as the final whistle was blown after they managed to score two goals in the 45th and 59th minute and ended with the runners-up title with one goal deficit .
The two goals of the losing side were scored by LT Lowly and Th Rishi.
In the Under-14 boy's final, Helping Hand Group Academy overwhelmed NAIMS English Academy, Langol by 3 goals to nothing.
The three goals of the winning team were scored by Mangal (2') and L Pradeep (30', 60+1').
Youth Affairs and Sports Director T Phulen Meitei, Joint Director L Jayantakumar Singh and Imphal West Youth Affairs and Sports Officer Y Kiranmala Devi attended the prize distribution ceremony as dignitaries.
