IMPHAL, May 12 : Kangla Ukok MES was crowned champions of the Imphal East District Level Subroto Mukerjee Football Under-14 Boys Tournament as they beat Diana English School 3-1 in the final at artificial turf ground at Lamlong Thongkhong, today while New Era English School won the Under-17 boy's title.
In the final match of the Under 14 category, Arjun of the losing side scored the opening goal in the 20th minute but the boys of Kangla Ukok MES didn't show any cold feet and came back stronger in the second half as they drew level the score line in the 38th minute through Ding Ding.
The confident boys of Kangla Ukok MES continued to showcase exemplary performance throughout the game as Satao and Ding Ding of the winning side struck two more goals in the 44th and 48th minute to seal the comfortable 3-1 win.
Meanwhile, New Era English School sealed a narrow 1-0 win over Kangla Ukok MES in the final of the Under-17 boys event of the same tournament.
The deciding goal of the match was scored by Malem in the 41st minute.
In the Under-17 girl's final, Free Progress Academy (FPA), Uyumpok trounched TAM Mission Andro 3-0 to clinch the title.
The three goals were netted by Reshma (4') and Mangpineng (16', 41').
All the winning teams will represent Imphal East in the State Level Subroto Mukerjee Football Tournament.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Youth Affairs and Sports Director T Phulen Meitei, Deputy Director (Administration) K Shantikumar and Deputy Director (Sports) Y Bonny Singh.
