IMPHAL, May 16 : Chandigarh rode on trebles from Supriya, Tamanna and Kamaldeep Kaur to drub Tamil Nadu 10-0 and top Pool F in the 12th Hockey India Sub-Junior Women National Championship here at Hockey Stadium, Khuman Lampak.
Chandigarh despite attempts drew blank in the opening quarter before Supriya netted the breakthrough goal in the 20th minute off a penalty corner. Tamanna then added another in the 29th minute to make it 2-0 till halfway.
The scoring spree continued in the third quarter with Kamaldeep Kaur converting a penalty corner in the 37th minute before Supriya and Tamanna added a goal apiece in the 43rd and the 44th minutes respectively to further extend the lead to 5-0 as Tamil Nadu girls who clinched a 1-0 win against Arunachal Pradesh remained clueless.
Chandigarh girls continued to pound Tamil Nadu with Supriya completing her treble in the 46th minute before Tamannah finding her second the very next minute.
Kamaldeep then grabbed her third in the 51st minute to make it 8-0 before Tamannah too found her third in the 57th minute and Navneet Kaur netted the decisive goal two minutes from time.
With the win and being the Pool winners, Chandigarh have secured the quarter final berth.
Later in an inconsequential Pool H league match, Rimjhim Kumari slammed five goals to inspire Bihar a comprehensive 15-0 win over Telangana.
Bihar started strongly and were 3-0 up in the first quarter with Sharda Kumar breaking the deadlock off a penalty corner in the 13th minute before star of the match, Rimjhim Kumari converting two penalty corners back to back in the 14th and 15th minutes into goals.
Khushi Kumari then made it 4-0 in the 18th minute as she made no mistake in converting a penalty stroke before Rimjhim Kumari, Sidhi Kumari and skipper Fensi Khatun all took their turns to add a goal apiece respectively in the 20th, 25th and 29th minutes.
Fensi Khatun then completed her double in the 32nd minute before Kajal Kacchap made it 9-0 in the 41st minute off a beautiful strike.
The third quarter proved to be an easy campaign with Bihar making further inroads and scoring at will and it was Khusi Kumari who bagged her second goal in the 42nd minute before Kajal Kacchap made it 11-0 with her second the next minute.
The onslaught continued with Sudhi Kumari converting a penalty corner in the 44th minute before Khusi rose again to pump in two more goals in the 45th minute and made it 14-0 against the Telangana side.
Sharda Kumari then took honour to seal the game 15-0 with a last minute strike.
In the last Pool H winners staged this evening, Mizoram beat Karnataka 2-0 to go top of the Pool and sealed their quarter final berth.
Both the goals were scored by captain Lalrinpuii in the 21st and the 59th minutes of the match.
