19th Restoration Day observed

BISHNUPUR, May 17 : Thangjing Seva Mandal Interim Committee Moirang and Phamnaiba Cheirap Loishang jointly organised the 19th Restoration Day observance ceremony at Ibudhou Thangjing Moirang Laikol today.
The event was attended by Moirang MLA Th Shanti, Oinam Binodkumar, convenor, Thangjing Seva Mandal Interim Committee and Salam Ibochouba as presidium members.
It may be noted that this day marks the restoration of Ibudhou Thangjing Moirang to the people of Moirang led by 16 brave revolutionaries.
During the course of the event, floral tributes were paid to the paintings of former Chief Minister of Manipur M Koireng, former Education Minister H Nillamani Singh and the 14 other brave souls who played a vital role in spearheading the revolution. The presidium members along with the office bearers of Ibudhou Thangjing, amaiba/amaibis and family members of the deceased leaders joined in paying floral tribute.
A 2-minute silence was also observed in honour of the 16 deceased souls.
Speaking as resource persons, Y Modhu, retd Associate Professor of Moirang College and S Kumar Singh, retd Principal, Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary, gave a detailed account of how Ibudhou Thangjing Moirang was saved from the hands of the Meitei King and restored to the people of Moirang led by M Koireng and H Nillamani.
Th Shanti spoke on the occasion and said that the reason the people of Moirang have the privilege of worshipping Ibudhou Thanging Moirang is all due to the courageous acts of the 16 valiant leaders. He added that their contribution should be remembered for generations to come.
